Tractor Spotting

Tractor Spotting

Yesterday, our town's DPW was out and about mowing some of the roadsides that get neglected. Read: Not our side of the road. They use a tractor with a mowing attachment to get 'er done so you know that it got the attention of one truck-loving toddler I know...

Harrison kept pointing at it as we moved from window to window and eventually, it moved out of sight. Imagine our surprise when we went out to get the mail and found the tractor sidelined.

Boo, Vandalism.

Mailbox Baseball

Vandalism sucks. It just does. When it happens to someone you know, it really sucks. When it happens to you and you have an innocent sleeping child 100 yards from the act, it really, really sucks and it's making me see red all over.

Pal Packs <3

It may be barely August but I wanted to thank LLBean for officially kicking off my Christmas shopping with their RIDICULOUS "Bean's Pal Packs." Super ridiculous. I was in the Danbury, CT store earlier today and I still can't get over this...

Watermelon Delight

Dear Watermelon

Harrison has been digging watermelon lately and what's not to love? Sweet, packed with water (shocker!) and easy to eat. Sure, it's a bit messy and sticky, but I think he prefers it that way. Even if he goes for the rind first.

Baby Bird Love

Beautiful Hanging Basket

One of my very first posts way back in the day was about how I was a "casual bird glancer." More on that here. Basically, I received a bird feeder and just like that, I became sort of obsessed. I loved watching them come and go and I loved seeing the variety of birds that passed through my yard. I have to find that feeder and get it back up because I think Harrison would like to watch them, too.

Matt got me some gorgeous hanging planters for Mother's Day this year and I had no idea they'd be a preferred spot for a Red Finch to make a nest.

A Letter To My Baby (15 Months)

Spray Park Fun!

Dearest Harr Bear,

It's been three months since your last letter. Although the first twelve months went by at a(n) (unusually) reasonable pace for your old Mama, the last three months have not. It feels like you're positively rocketing into toddler-dom but that's okay. We're having the time of our lives and soaking it all in. I can't believe how you've changed.

Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush (??)

Are these mulberries?

We have this tree in the yard and it has tons of berries on it. I'm thinking they're mulberries, which are supposedly great in pies or pancakes but I don't want to die if they're actually poisonous, so there's that. Remember Foxface in the Hunger Games? Yeah, I want to avoid that.

What do you think? The picture above is some of thef ripe "harvest." The following pictures are of the tree itself.

Father's Day Gift Guide 2015

Father's Day Gift Ideas

We're now a week into June and with that comes all the craziness of the end of the school year. If you have school-age children, I hope you're making it through this crazy month.

June is the month of "Dads and Grads," and for the first time in a while, I don't have to shop for a "Grad." I am, however, fortunate enough to have an awesome Dad and an incredible Baby Daddy for whom to shop so I thought I'd share some of my ideas for Father's Day. (Dad and/or Matt, if you're reading this... stop now. Or, continue on and wonder for the next few weeks if one of these gifts is going to be yours. I won't tell.)

State of the Garden (Mid-May 2015)

Mini Petunias

I am way past due for sharing my buds and blooms this year but here are a few things I'm enjoying in the garden of late.

Matt gifted me a couple of gorgeous hanging planters for the front porch...I got to pick them out.

The "mini petunias" are gorgeous when illuminated by the early morning sunshine.

I'm not sure what I did to the group of Irises that flank our well, but they look like they're on steroids.

How To Rip Out Vines (While Keeping Your Sanity Intact)

How to Get Rid of Vines

I haven't posted in nearly a month and it's driving me crazy. Have you missed me? I have so much to say and so much to share. I haven't been sitting on my bottom around here, I assure you of that.

After moving on from the non-alcohol related hangover of Harrison's birthday week, Matt and I started to really enjoy some of the gorgeous weather Connecticut has been afforded of late. We spent a couple of nights eating dinner at the picnic table and walking the estate with a beer in hand. Sounds nice, right? It was lovely, but...
