Ridiculously Blessed

It was my birthday yesterday. Yay, me! My goodness, are birthdays fun.

Matt and I kicked off the celebrations in Home Depot. Shocker, I know. We just had to stop in to pay for our new countertops! Woot!

The color is Edisto, as in Edisto Beach, SC. Or so I think. Google and I worked together, and that’s our best guess. After the counter top debate, we ended up forgoing the laminate for a solid surface top. It was a bit pricier, but we’re happy with our decision. I’ll save all that information for a different post when we get the current counters ripped off. After all, this is my birthday post.

We left Home Depot and hit up our favorite local food truck for some breakfast. It was conveniently parked right at Home Depot. Maybe that’s why it’s our favorite?

I didn’t have to be into work until later in the morning, so I said good-bye to Matt and went home to play with Griff. The I decided to play musical chairs with some of my existing pots and some new petunias my husband picked up for my special day.

Isn’t that purple gorgeous? I’m not normally a purple kind of girl, but purple flowers? Bring it on.

It was a perfect morning: breakfast, garden time and riding with my pup. Oh, and it was nearly 70 degrees. May is the BEST month of the year.

Yes, that picture was taken on the highway, but don’t worry, Mom! I took 20 of them without looking (eyes on the road!) and then picked the best one once I had the car stopped safely.

I arrived at work and had a special little birthday party there with the kids, complete with cupcakes. Cupcakes WITH sprinkles. Heaven. I could eat sprinkles by the spoonful. Maybe I should use them more on my fro-yo. If I used more sprinkles and less peanut butter cups, maybe I wouldn’t spend $100/mo on fro-yo. Kidding! Kind of…

Where was I? Right. The cupcakes with sprinkles. Oh! There were also cookies and presents and hysterical homemade kid cards, too. Bonus! We spent a lot of time outside, which was perfect, and part of my ideal day.

For dinner, I asked Matt to grill at home instead of going out, so we had burgers and salads and beers here when we got home.

My favorite part of the day, of course, was all the looooove. Birthdays are the best because you hear from all those people that fall through the cracks during a normal, crazy, busy day/week/month/year. All of the heartfelt cards, texts, e-mails and phone calls made my day that much more special. They also drained my phone battery pretty quickly. I didn’t care. They mean the world. Thank you.

I am so blessed.

How would you spend your ideal birthday? Any traditions you like to stick to? I think the Home Depot/food truck combo is a tradition in the making…
