Step On Some Color

As I patiently* await my sprouting crocus and daffodil bulbs, I’ve been on the prowl for something to add some immediate color to the front porch.

Our front porch is due for an overhaul this summer, but in the interim, I’m happy to spend a few bucks keeping it colorful. I tend to buy coir-type mats because they’re prevalent and readily available, but they wear out from season to season. Mine looks a bit worse for wear so let’s go shoppin’.

Both of the following are from Garnet Hill and they’re both $34. The red “sweet home” is cheeky and charming.

I love the birds on this one. I have a bird-watching problem, remember?

This guy is quite fancy with the “scroll work” but wait for it… it’s rubber. It would work for a space that is uncovered, like a back door. Super cheap, too. $15 from Amazon.

This is more of an outdoor rug than a traditional doormat, but I’m in love. You might see this pop up on my porch this spring. :)

I saved the best for last, but alas, you can’t buy it anywhere… it was thought up through a program called “Lowe’s Creative Ideas” and I kind of want to DIY it. I’ll run it by my man and see what he thinks. Seriously though, how cool!

Target, Crate & Barrel, and HomeGoods are always awesome places to grab a new doormat. I’m planning on snagging a new one this weekend to freshen up our porch. I saw one at Target that said “BEWARE: Dog can’t hold its licker.” I love that but will probably end up with a mat without words.

What are your ideas for quick outdoor color? Since I can’t wait for my flowers and all.

*You caught me. Patient I am not - when it comes to flowers, that is. I check the progress of those bulbs each morning before work and each evening after work. I practically camp out near them on the weekends. Plant stalker? Maybe. Obsessed? Definitely.
